On May 23rd, the regular season of the table tennis WTT in Taiyuan ushered in a battle of highlights, as Chinese table tennis world champion mainstay and All-Championships men’s singles champion Liang Jingkun took to the court to take on All-Championships men’s singles runner-up Liu Dingshuo. The battle was fought fiercely but Liang Jingkun was still clearly in the ascendancy, eventually locking up a victory through a more balanced forehand and backhand strength to advance to the last sixteen, sweeping his teammates by a large margin of 3-0.<\/p>

As the three main Olympic stars of the Chinese table tennis team, Wang Chuqin, Fan Zhendong and Ma Long, did not participate in the singles events of the tournament, Liang Jingkun became the top seed, and is expected to prove his mettle in his quest to win the title! Liu Dingshuo was once a big dark horse in the Chinese table tennis team, bursting out of the cold at the National Games in 2021, winning consecutively over Olympic champion Xu Xin and world champion Wang Chuqin to advance to the final of the men’s singles, and finally failing to beat Fan Zhendong to reap the runner-up spot, but unfortunately, his performance later on was average, with no bright results in either the internal or external battles, and was gradually marginalized as a result.<\/p>

In the third round, Liu Dingshuo fought a back-and-forth battle with Liang Jingkun until 10-all, but Liang Jingkun continued to use his backhand to win the match, ending the battle at 12-10, thus defeating his teammate and advancing to the Men’s Singles Round of 16 with a score of zero.<\/p>

Although he had his highlights in the National Games, Liu Dingshuo’s forehand is very difficult to continue to achieve good results in today’s ping pong world.
