On the evening of 8 February, the men’s singles semi-finals of the WTT Singapore Grand Slam Tournament saw the Chinese table tennis team’s two main players, Wang Chuqin and Liang Jingkun, meet in a fierce battle. As a result, world No.1 Wang Chuqin lost 3-4 in seven games, missing match points against his teammate, thus stopping in the quarter-finals and not being able to defend his title, while Liang Jingkun, who was runner-up in the men’s singles last year, once again progressed to the finals. Wang Chuchin was born in 2000 and Liang Jing Kun in 1996. They are both mainstays of the Chinese table tennis team, and have played each other many times before, with four international wins and four ties each, so there is not much of a difference in their standards.<\/p>

    In the third set, the two sides continued to play very fiercely, Wang Chuqin was penalised one point for serving behind in the opening game, and then soon after, Liang Jingkun made a direct error on his serve and also lost one point. Wang Chuqin seized the opportunity to press forward and quickly chased down the ball to 6-all, but Liang Jingkun soon adjusted his form, scoring four points in a row to get the set point, and ultimately took the 11-7 win to turn back the score.<\/p>

    In the fourth set, they again battled to a crucial point, with Liang Jingkun taking a timeout to adjust after taking a 109 lead.     In the fifth game, Liang Jingkun was the first to make an error and lost a point, but then quickly gained his footing and continued to break through Wang Chuqin’s forehand gap to level the score, but soon his team-mate also followed suit and broke through his forehand position, and the two of them battled it out to win 11-5, and the suspense of the match was extended.<\/p>
