ITTF Week 34 Rankings: Tomokazu Harimoto Returns to Top 3, Lin Shidong & Sun Yingsha Retain World No.1

On August 19 Beijing time, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) released the Week 34 World Rankings. With points from last week’s WTT Yokohama Champions added, Tomokazu Harimoto climbed back to World No. 3 in men’s singles, while Hugo Calderano slipped to No. 4. At the top, Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin continued to dominate at No.1 and No.2. On the women’s side, Chen Xingtong, despite winning in Yokohama, remained No.3, trailing behind Wang Manyu (No.2) and Sun Yingsha (No.1).

Women’s Singles – Top 10 Unchanged

The Yokohama event had little impact on the very top of the women’s rankings. The Top 10 remains identical to last week:

  1. Sun Yingsha

  2. Wang Manyu

  3. Chen Xingtong

  4. Kuai Man

  5. Wang Yidi

  6. Miwa Harimoto

  7. Zhu Yuling

  8. Mima Ito

  9. Miyu Nagasaki

  10. Chen Yi

Chen Xingtong’s victory in Yokohama was not enough to surpass Wang Manyu, given her past results. Zhu Yuling also stayed steady at No.7 thanks to her earlier WTT Grand Smash USA title.

Men’s Singles – Ranking Shifts

In contrast, the men’s side saw major movement:

  • Tomokazu Harimoto jumped to No.3 after winning in Yokohama.

  • Hugo Calderano (absent in Yokohama) dropped to No.4.

  • Xiang Peng surged to No.8, overtaking Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic.

Men’s Singles Top 10:

  4. Hugo Calderano

  5. Liang Jingkun

  6. Alexis Lebrun

  7. Truls Moregard

  8. Xiang Peng

Doubles Rankings – Stable Before Sweden

As the Yokohama Champions only featured singles, the doubles rankings remained unchanged:

  • Lin Shidong / Kuai Man (Mixed Doubles No.1)

  • Wang Manyu / Kuai Man (Women’s Doubles No.1)

  • Lebrun Brothers (Men’s Doubles No.1)

However, the ongoing WTT European Grand Smash in Sweden could reshape the rankings significantly. With 2000 points at stake—equal to the Olympics and World Championships—the results may trigger dramatic changes.
