The table tennis WTT Macau Championships roster changed again on 8 September, with German world champion Ovtcharov announcing his withdrawal due to injury and not being able to play against Chinese table tennis team youngster Xu Yingbin, and instead Chinese Taipei world champion Chuang Chih-Yuan will take part in the event as a replacement.
Prior to this, there have been a number of famous players in the ping world who have withdrawn from this tournament, including Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Chen Meng, Junior Lebron, Hugo, Zhang Yuzhen, Senior Lebron, Hina Hayada, Shin Yubin, Timo boll and others, and now Ovtcharov has also given up on not playing, which has made the tournament less interesting to watch and regrettable again.
WTT Macao Championships is the first bing battle after the end of the Paris Olympics, the original world ranking of the top ten twenty athletes have been qualified to participate in the competition, however, the game has not yet started, seven of them disappeared from the list of missing, that is, Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Chen Meng, Xiao Leblen, Hugo, Hina Hayata, Shin Yubin.
It is worth mentioning that among all the eight singles quarter-finalists of the Paris Olympics, only Sun Yingsha and Moregard are left to continue to participate in the WTT Macau Championships, while the remaining six have given up, which makes the game a lot less golden.

On the afternoon of 7 September Beijing time, the signing for the WTT Macau Championships was released, when Ovtcharov had been scheduled to face off against Chinese table tennis team star Xu Yingbin in the first round. However, just a day after the draw ceremony, Ovtcharov was confirmed to have withdrawn from the tournament due to an injury: although this is not a rare case, since it has been endorsed by the World Table Tennis Team, there should be a doctor’s note to prove it.
Prior to this, Timo Boll, one of the two German men’s world champions, had already announced his withdrawal from international competition and was subsequently cleared of world ranking points, while Ovtcharov was also suffering from injuries, so it was no surprise that he was now flying high.
As mentioned earlier, Ovtcharov’s withdrawal has been replaced by another world champion, Chinese Taipei star Chuang Chih-Yuan. However, it is worth noting that while Ovtcharov is now 36 years old, Chuang is even older, now 43, and has previously expressed his intention to retire, so it is quite dramatic that he is now replacing Ovtcharov.
According to the arrangement, the WTT Macau Championships will kick off at 11:00am on 9 September, and Chinese table tennis team players Sun Yingsha, Liang Jingkun, Lin Gaoyuan and Wang Manyu will be the first to make their debut, and we expect all of them to win the opening victory.
