At the beginning of the match, Lin Yunru, who had a poor record, was obviously more focused on getting the upper hand, and soon took the lead in the first set. However, Lin Shidong soon used his superb backhand to suppress Lin Yunru, and at the same time, he made a counterattack in the process of being mobilised, and eventually reversed to take the first place with 11-9, which made Lin Yunru look relatively helpless on the court.
In the second set, Lin Shidong gained momentum and took a 7-1 lead over his opponent, forcing Lin Yunru to play some unconventional strokes which are not usually seen in the game, and it was ineffective, finally Lin Shidong extended his advantage with another win of 11-6.

In the third set, Lin Shidong scored 5 points in a row to gain the advantage. Lin Yunru could not find much way to win the game, his backhand was obviously inferior to Lin Shidong’s backhand, his forehand was even weaker than his opponent’s, and his serve-receive was controlled by his opponent’s twisting, pulling and rubbing, and as a result, Lin Shidong quickly made a score of 9-1, and finally took the match with 11-6, which drove Lin Yunru into a desperate situation.
In the fourth set, Lin Yunru could only fight for his chance of survival, but he fell behind in the opening game, and a timeout was of no help. In the end, Lin Shidong did not give him a chance to turn the game around, and sealed the victory with an 11-4 win, thus winning the third place in the men’s singles.
