On January 16th, the ITTF announced the World Ranking List for the 3rd week of 2024 Influenced by the result of WTT Doha and some old points being cleared. Many people’s position changed, Chinese table tennis team reigns as the No.1 in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. South Korea maintains the No.1 in Women’s Doubles.
As for the top two of men’s singles, they are still Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin. The top two of women’s singles are also still Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi. In addition, Chen Meng overtook Wang Manyu, returned to the top three. Chinese table tennis team took the top four of the women’s singles. Lin Gaoyuan rebounded, the Chinese table tennis team took the top five of the men’s singles. Lin Shidong once again ranked in the top ten. Harimoto Tomokazu was squeezed out of the top ten. Singles
The major event held by the world table tennis team last week was the WTT Doha. Chinese table tennis team swept the five titles in a big way, so the biggest winners are still Chinese athletes. Men’s singles champion Wang Chuqin still couldn’t overtake Fan Zhendong, who retired due to injury and stopped in the last eight, and still came in at number two. While women’s singles champion Sun Yingsha continued to expand her advantage over the others and stayed at the top of the table.
Congratulations, with Lin Gaoyuan’s rebound. The Chinese table tennis team finally once again wrapped up the men’s singles top five positions in the world rankings: Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan. They are followed by Hugo (Brazil), Lin Yunru (Chinese Taipei), Felix (France), Lin Shidong and Dang Qiu (Germany) – Lin Shidong moving up 2 spots with his runner-up finish in the game.
The Chinese table tennis team women’s singles are still rounding out the top four. But the positions have changed, with Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi maintaining the top two, Chen Meng returning to the top three with her runner-up finish at the game. Wang Manyu being squeezed into fourth, followed by Hina Hayata (JPN), Chen Xingtong, Qian Tianyi, Han Ying (DEU), Shin Yubin (KOR), and Mitsuru Ito (JPN).
At present, Japan’s Harimoto Tomokazu has been squeezed to the 11th position in the men’s singles again. Hina Hayata continues to lead the women’s singles of the Outer Association. Misaki Ito, although not participating in the tournament, remains in the 10th place because of more points previously earned. Harimoto Tomokazu and Hirano Miyu maintain their positions in the 15th and 17th places.
Doubles
In doubles, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin and Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha remain No.1 in Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. South Korea’s Tian Zhixi/Shin Yubin reign as No.1 in Women’s Doubles. WTT Doha Men’s Doubles champions Liang Jingkun/Yuan Lizen have soared 347 places to No.20. Women’s Doubles champions Chen Xingtong/Qian Tianyi have advanced 17 places to No.12.
The Chinese table tennis team is currently hosting the WTT Doha Regular Season and the WTT Corpus Christi feeder tournament. Chinese table tennis team has only sent two mixed doubles pairs, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha and Lin Gaoyuan/Wang Manyu, to the former event. So most of the point changes in the next edition will come from the foreign associations’ athletes and combinations. So let’s watch and see how things change together!
