ITTF Week 45 ITTF World Ranking: Chen Meng rises, Wang Yidi slips

On 5 November, the ITTF released its 45th weekly world ranking list, in which Chen Meng, who has been absent from international competitions lately, rose back to third in the women’s singles, Wang Yidi slipped to fourth, and Ma Long retreated to seventh in the men’s singles.
Japan’s Satsuki Oto continues to improve, entering the world top 10 for the first time, Qian Tianyi, runner-up in the women’s singles at the WTT Muscat Regular Season Tournament last week, moves back up to 12th, champion Kuai Man soars forty-four places to 36th, men’s singles champion Lin Sidong maintains his world number two ranking, and runner-up Wen Ruibo advances forty-two places and is now ranked fifty-fourth, for more details, please see below.
There are a number of factors affecting this week’s world rankings, with new points coming from the WTT Muscat, plus the WTT Pristina feeder and WTT Caracas feeder, while old points from last year’s WTT Frankfurt, WTT Alto Sektor feeder and the Pan American Games are no longer valid.
As the WTT Frankfurt Championships is at a higher level than the regular season and feeder tournaments, it has resulted in Ma Long, who was runner-up in the men’s singles last year at the event, and Wang Yidi, the women’s singles champion, being affected, while Chen Meng, who was out of the tournament in the second round at the time, has nothing to lose, and as a result, she has risen back up to the third place in the world rankings after having been hanging a war card high up in the air lately.

The latest women’s singles world top ten players are: Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, Chen Meng, Wang Yidi, Hina Hayata, Zhang Motomoto Meiwa, Chen Xingtong, Zheng Yijing, ito mima, and Odo Shayuki. Satsuki Oto, who has won six international singles titles this year, made the top 10 for the first time, while Korean first sister Shin Yubin slipped to 11th and ito mima was pushed down a place by Zheng Yijing.
The latest top 10 men’s singles players are Wang Chuqin, Lin Sidong, Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun, Junior Lebron, Hugo, Ma Long, Harimoto Tomokazu, Lin Gaoyuan and Francesca. Apart from Hugo and Ma Long swapping places, the rest remain unchanged from the previous edition.

As mentioned earlier, of the four Chinese table tennis team players who made it to the singles final at the WTT Muscat regular season tournament last week, three of them improved, with Kuai Man and Wen Ruibo, who were ranked at the back of the table, both moving up considerably, and Qian Tianyi steadily advancing and approaching the top 10, except for Lin Shidong, who was originally ranked too high, and therefore did not have enough regular season title points to enable him to overtake Wang Chuchin, and is still at the world’s second position.
In doubles, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha, Lin Shidong/Lin Gaoyuan, Chen Meng/Wang Manyu are still at the top of the list, Lin Shidong/Kuaiman, Xiang Peng/Yuan Lizen have risen to the second position in the world of mixed doubles and men’s doubles respectively, and the WTT Frankfurt Championships which is now underway only has singles events, so there will be no major changes in the doubles rankings for the time being, so let’s wait for the next edition of the singles points dynamics together!
