On January 30th, Beijing time, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced the world ranking list for the 5th week of 2024, and the Chinese table tennis team of Fan Zhendong, Sun Yingsha, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuchin, Wang Chuchin/Sun Yingsha, and South Korea’s Tien Chih-Hsi/Shin Yu-Bin continued to share the top seats of the five major events.
As for French youngster Felix Lebrun, who won the WTT Goa Ballon d’Or last week, he has already surpassed Lin Yunru and Hugo to progress to No. 6 in the men’s singles, becoming the No. 1 in the foreign associations for the first time; women’s singles champion Zheng Yijing has also climbed back up to No. 11, while No. 10 Ito Misaki, who has been absent from the foreign tournaments for a succession of matches, is already in an unsettled position and likely to drop out of the top 10 soon. -See below for more details.
This week’s latest ITTF world ranking were mainly affected by the WTT Goa Ballon d’Or, and since all Chinese table tennis team and Japanese players were absent from the event, naturally there were no new points to add, so the beneficiaries were from other associations.
Men's Single
In men’s singles, Felix, who has long been in the top 10, won the championship and gained 600 points, which made his ranking rise again to No. 6, finally becoming the No. 1 foreign association for the first time, while Brazil’s Hugo lost in the final and continued to maintain the No. 7 ranking, and Lin Yunru dropped to No. 8 because of his absence from the WTT Goa.
As for the men’s singles world top 10, the latest list is: Fan Zhendong, Wang Chuqin, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun, Lin Gaoyuan, Felix, Hugo, Lin Yunru, and Lin Sidong. The Chinese table tennis team continues to cover the top five, with a very clear advantage.
Women's Single
