On 1 April, the table tennis WTT Incheon Championships kicked off in South Korea, with former Chinese table tennis team world champion mainstay and current Chinese Macao player Zhu Yuling taking the court to play the opening match against South Korean chipping star Seo Hyo Won. Born in 1995, Zhu Yuling’s career is quite legendary, she was once the main athlete of the Chinese table tennis team, winning many championships and medals in the World Championships, Asian Championships and National Championships, but she withdrew from the field for three years after 2021 due to health reasons, and then made her comeback last year, but changed to represent the Chinese table tennis team of Macao, which is a very rare situation in the Chinese table tennis world in this century.
Xu Xiaoyuan, born in 1987, is a master of the chipped ball style of play and maintains a high level of competition despite her age, but she has a record of one win and seven losses against Zhu Yuling, a 0-3 loss only in January this year, and is now facing a tough test when they meet again.

At the start of the match, Xu Xiaoyuan learnt from her last loss and refused to be slow, strengthening the threat of counterattacks in chipping to avoid being suppressed by Zhu Yuling’s steady output of looping attacks, but Zhu Yuling then forced Xu Xiaoyuan to fail to realise her strategic goals through her strong near-table control and eventually took the first set 11-8.
In the second set, Xu Xiaoyuan still couldn’t find many ways to win the game, and the middle position was also suppressed by the opponent’s strong pressure, and soon was pulled apart in the opening stage, Zhu Yuling blasted 8-1 lead and then took it 11-3 easily, just one step away from advancing.
