I’ve been using the SANWEI Verdi Inner for the past 6 months, mainly in competitive training and match play. After spending enough time with it, I honestly think this is the best inner ALC blade SANWEI has produced so far.
What makes it special is not just the speed or the control individually—it’s the balance between the two.
The blade feels like it sits somewhere between:
- the flexibility and dwell of a DHS W968 / Hurricane Long 5
- and the direct stability of a faster modern ALC blade
But at the same time, it still has its own distinct personality because of the green VerdiX fiber.
First Impression: Very Familiar for W968 Players
The moment I started looping with the Verdi Inner, the feeling immediately reminded me of a W968-style inner carbon blade.
You get:
- high arc looping
- deep ball hold
- strong dwell time
- flexible power generation
Especially during forehand topspin exchanges, the blade produces that classic “holding then releasing” sensation that many advanced Chinese-style attackers love.
But after longer use, I noticed something important:
the Verdi Inner actually feels slightly stronger and more aggressive than a typical W968 setup.
Verdi Inner
- VerdiX Fiber(Polyarylate Carbon Fiber)
– Enhanced Control: By positioning the VerdiX Fiber on the third layer, the Verdi Inner offers improved control without sacrificing power. This strategic placement ensures that your shots are not only strong but also incredibly precise.
- Superior Core Construction
– Kiri Core: The Verdi Inner retains the lightweight and durable paulownia wood core, providing quick response times and an agile feel essential for competitive play.
– Ayous Reinforcement: Reinforced with ayous wood, the blade maintains stability and consistency, giving you confidence during intense rallies.
– Limba Outer Ply: The outer layer features premium limba wood, known for its smooth, responsive surface, enhancing spin and touch for superior ball control and a satisfying feel on impact.
The VERDI INNER combines the speed and power of a Viscaria with the flexibility and control of a Hurricane Long 5. With its ALC plies in an “inner” position, it offers a softer feel and a higher throw angle, requiring a slight adjustment of the racket angle when playing topspin. To maintain speed, its core has been thickened to ~5.9 mm (compared to ~5.75 mm for the Viscaria). Its composition is almost identical to the Long 5, but with a kiri core (like the Viscaria) instead of limba, bringing more softness. The result is a unique balance of speed, flexibility, and touch—perfect for offensive players seeking a feel between these two benchmark blades
The Green VerdiX Fiber Feels More Powerful
The key difference comes from the VerdiX Fiber (Polyarylate Carbon Fiber).
Compared to standard inner ALC constructions, the green fiber feels:
- slightly firmer
- more direct during acceleration
- more explosive on full power shots
Because the fiber sits in the third layer (inner position), the blade still maintains:
- soft touch
- excellent control
- high looping safety
But when you fully engage during power loops, the blade suddenly releases a lot of energy.
That combination creates extremely high-quality topspin balls.
Honestly, the loop quality is probably the strongest part of this blade.
Looping Is Outstanding
This is where the Verdi Inner really shines.
The combination of:
- limba outer ply
- inner VerdiX fiber
- thicker ~5.9mm structure
creates a very dangerous offensive feeling.
The arc is:
- high enough for safety
- but still powerful and penetrating
During full forehand loops, the blade feels both:
- flexible during contact
- and explosive during release
That’s a difficult balance to achieve.
Compared to some softer inner blades, the Verdi Inner produces a heavier and more threatening ball during strong acceleration.
Excellent Balance Between Power and Control
One thing I appreciated after extended use is how stable the blade remains despite its offensive potential.
The:
- Kiri core
- Ayous reinforcement
- inner fiber positioning
all contribute to a very balanced feel.
In slower situations:
- pushes feel controlled
- serve receive remains manageable
- short game touch is reliable
Then once you accelerate, the blade transforms into something much more aggressive.
That dual personality is what makes it suitable for advanced offensive play.
Softer Feel Than Outer Carbon Blades
Even though the Verdi Inner is powerful, it never feels harsh.
Compared to outer ALC blades:
- vibration is softer
- contact feels deeper
- the ball stays on the racket longer
The limba outer ply helps a lot here. The touch feeling is very comfortable, especially during spin-oriented play.
This makes the blade easier to control during looping rallies compared to faster outer carbon designs.
Requires Proper Technique to Fully Unlock
I do think the blade is best suited for players with developed offensive technique.
Because of the inner construction and higher throw angle:
- the blade rewards active acceleration
- it performs best when engaging the sponge fully
- passive shots don’t fully show its quality
Advanced and upper-intermediate players will probably appreciate it the most.
Who It’s Best For
After 6 months, I’d especially recommend the Verdi Inner to:
- Offensive loopers
- Players who enjoy W968 / Long 5 style feeling
- Advanced intermediate to advanced players
- Players wanting strong arc with modern inner carbon power
Especially for players who want:
- high-quality topspin
- inner ALC control
- but slightly more aggression and firmness than traditional Long 5-style blades
the Verdi Inner becomes extremely interesting.
Final Thoughts
The SANWEI Verdi Inner feels like a very mature offensive blade design.
What stood out most to me:
- exceptional looping quality
- inner carbon control with stronger finishing power
- excellent balance between softness and explosiveness
- premium feeling from the green VerdiX fiber structure
And after 6 months, I genuinely feel it competes with much more expensive high-end inner ALC blades.
For me personally, it feels very close to a W968-style experience—but with slightly firmer fiber response and even more direct offensive potential. That combination makes the Verdi Inner one of the most impressive blades SANWEI has released in recent years.
