He is the younger brother of Alexis Lebrun 22nd mondial5. Felix is described as a “French table tennis phenomenon” with his older brother.
He won a gold medal in the final of the 2023 European games at just 16 years old, the first major title of his career. He succeeds the great names of European table tennis, Dimitrij ovcharov and Timo Boll.
Felix Lebrun, born September 12, 2006 in Montpellier (herault), is a French tennis player who made his debut in the world of table tennis at only 3 years old. He is the younger brother of Alexis Lebrun, 22nd world player, and is described as a “phenomenon” of French table tennis.
Together with his brother, felix won a gold medal in the final of the 2023 European games, his first major career title. He followed in the footsteps of Dimitrij ovcharov and Timo Boll, two great names in European table tennis.
Felix grew up in a pongier family environment, surrounded by his father stephane Lebrun, former French no. 7, and his uncle Christophe legout, former world no. 14. He adopted a pen holder that is rarely used in the world and began his sports practice in sport-study at the end of primary school.
He followed an atypical training, never passing through the federal structures of very high level such as insep or the pole France in Nantes. He has trained at the pole espoir in Montpellier since its inception and has never left this environment.
Felix is surrounded by a dedicated staff, with Nathanael Molin, his coach, and Jeremy Surault, his physical coach. They have innovated in training methods, especially by taking inspiration from the Chinese while keeping a different approach due to the French culture.
Felix holds his racket in a feather grip, a technique he discovered while watching professional tennis player Chen Jian play. This method allows him to keep a freer wrist to counter his opponents.
