On June 3, 2025, the official roster for the Chinese Table Tennis Super League (CTTSL) was announced, featuring an impressive lineup of 13 world champions from China and Japan. Notably, Fan Zhendong, who had been absent from competitions for nearly six months and recently joined the German Bundesliga club 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, is set to participate in the league. Additionally, several international players will join the competition, including Japan’s Miwa Harimoto, Miu Hirano, Miyu Kihara, Sora Matsushima, and South Korea’s Woo Joon-cheol. However, Ma Long and Chen Meng will not be participating.
The CTTSL is recognized as the premier professional table tennis league in China and globally. Typically, top Chinese national team players participate, and this year is no exception. Among the active Chinese world champions, only Ma Long and Chen Meng are absent; the remaining 12 will compete, distributed among various clubs as follows:

In addition to these 12 Chinese world champions, Japan’s Miu Hirano, the 2016 Women’s World Cup singles champion, will also participate. She will join forces with Sun Yingsha and Kuai Man at Shenzhen University, bringing the number of world champions in the club to three, significantly strengthening their lineup.
Furthermore, several prominent international players will compete in the league, including Japan’s Miwa Harimoto, who has previously defeated top Chinese players. This underscores the CTTSL’s inclusive and diverse nature this year.

As previously mentioned, Fan Zhendong has been away from competitive play for an extended period and recently signed with the German Bundesliga club 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. Nevertheless, he is listed to participate in the CTTSL.
Ma Long, who has been promoted to Vice Chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, will not participate this year. However, he continues to prepare for the National Games in November, which may mark the final chapter of his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Olympic champion Chen Meng has gradually stepped away from the competitive scene, having only participated in the semi-exhibition “Waldner Cup” since the new cycle began, suggesting she may be nearing retirement.
According to the schedule, the first phase of the CTTSL will commence on June 9 in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei, and conclude on June 11, with matches held daily at 11:00 and 18:00. The second phase is scheduled for July 25–28 in Xiamen, Fujian; the third phase will take place from August 29 to September 1 in Ürümqi, Xinjiang. The grand finals are slated for December 26–28 in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Let’s look forward to these thrilling showdowns!
